GAB claims to be the social network that encourages free speech. Whether this was a genuine intention, or simply an excuse, is unknown, but the site has become synonymous with racism and neo-nazis (or Alt-Right as they prefer to be known nowadays).
Another issue is the security of the site, which is apparently very poor. The founder Andrew Torba also has a reputation for allegedly selling the details of user accounts from his previous internet companies.
